Fire prevention and community risk reduction are important parts of protecting lives, property, businesses, and communities throughout Tooele County. The Tooele County Fire Department works to reduce fire and life safety risks through code administration, inspections, plan review, development review, wildfire mitigation, permitting, public education, and coordination with residents, businesses, contractors, developers, and partner agencies.
Fire prevention responsibilities include reviewing residential and commercial projects, evaluating fire apparatus access and water supply, reviewing fire protection system requirements, conducting fire inspections, assisting with Wildland Urban Interface requirements, and providing guidance on adopted fire codes and standards. These efforts are intended to identify hazards early, support safe development, improve emergency access and response capabilities, and help ensure buildings and properties meet applicable fire and life safety requirements.
Fire Prevention and Community Risk Reduction activities are coordinated by the Fire Marshal in cooperation with other County departments, local fire agencies, property owners, contractors, design professionals, and community partners. Whether you are starting or operating a business, planning a development, building a home, submitting plans, preparing for an inspection, or looking for fire safety information, the resources below are intended to help guide you through the process.
